Indian Ink 1912 is a waterproof, deep black and document-proof drawing ink. The name goes back to a historical Schmincke product: this shellac ink, also known as Chinese ink, was already available in the range in 1912 as Indian Ink.
Shellac, a resin, is a historic natural binder that ensures waterproof drying and gives the ink a special silky sheen. The water-based new edition of Indian Ink with shellac as a binder has a fluid consistency and is therefore ideal for writing, painting and drawing with all types of nibs as well as with brushes. The neutral deep black (pigment Pbk7) on a natural basis can be used pure as well as diluted with water on the smoothest possible satin papers (drawing papers) and dries to a silky finish. Shake before use. Work equipment should be cleaned immediately with water (and soap) after use. Not to be used for writing fountain pens! Protect from frost.
